How to Replace an Laptop LCD Screen Inverter?

The inverter board is an integral part of your laptop that is required for the LCD screen to properly display images. When the inverter board fails the screen will go blank or flicker on and off. If your inverter board has suffered a failure, you don't need to immediately purchase a new laptop or take the computer to a technician. With the proper tools you can remove your laptop's screen and replace the malfunctioning inverter board.
1. Turn off the laptop. Close the LCD screen and disconnect the laptop's power cable. Flip the laptop over.
2. Push the battery unlock button to the right and lift the battery unit out of the laptop. Turn the laptop over and lift open the LCD screen.
3. Pull off the rubber screw seals located along the edges of the LCD screen. If you can't remove the seals with your fingers, slide the edge of a flat-head screwdriver underneath them and pop them off.
4. Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the screws underneath the rubber seals. Pull the lower-right edge of the LCD screen cover off the screen.
5. Work your way around the edges of the screen and continue pulling the cover off the LCD screen. If you have trouble separating the cover from the screen, insert a thin and flat object, such as a flat-head screwdriver or guitar pick, into the seam and wiggle back and forth until the cover loosens.
6. Set the screen cover aside to reveal the inverter board at the bottom of the laptop's LCD screen. Unplug the two cables located on the left and right side of the board.
7. Remove the screw holding the inverter board to the Toshiba's LCD screen. Place the new inverter board into place and attach the screw. Connect the two cables to the sides of the board.
8. Push the cover back into place on the LCD screen. Reconnect the screws and push the screw covers back into place. Put the battery into the battery port and then power on the laptop.
